DELE diplomas are official certificates accrediting proficiency in Spanish, awarded by Instituto Cervantes on behalf of Spain’s Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. They have indefinite validity and are recognized by educational institutions, companies and chambers of commerce worldwide.
Instituto Cervantes is entrusted with the academic, administrative and financial management of the DELE diplomas, in accordance with Royal Decrees 1137/2002 of October 31, RD 264/2008 of February 22 and RD 1004/2015 of November 6. The DELE exams are designed following the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and the Manual for Relating Exams to the CEFR, both developed by the Council of Europe.
Six available levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. For students, professionals and anyone who wants to certify their level of Spanish.
Three modalities: DELE A1 for Schools, DELE A2/B1 for Schools and DELE B2/C1 for Schools. Ideal for students seeking their first international certification. In 2026, a new DELE exam for schools was launched: DELE B2/C1. Since its launch, candidates between 11 and 17 years old have access to an exam above B1 level with specific content designed for young people to demonstrate their level of Spanish.
